How do I SCAN variable barcodes?

Please watch the below training video (and read the instructions below):

To setup the SCANNING of variable barcode items, please follow the following steps EXACTLY.

1.  You must use the Clover INVENTORY app (or Clover dashboard) to setup any item that you wish to print VARIABLE barcodes for.

2. Be sure to set the inventory item to "Weight Based" and the unit MUST be "oz", "g", "lb" or "kg"

3.  The Clover INVENTORY app defaults to showing a gray "oz" in the units field but this is ONLY A HINT and the actual word "oz" (or other unit) MUST BE typed for the item to be recognized as a weight based item by the Weigh & Pay PRO app.

4. The Product Code must be set to a unique 5 digit or 6 digit code.  The code must be EXACTLY 5 digits or 6 digits and is entirely up to you to decide what this code will be but it MUST be unique to your inventory.  If you use 6 digit Product Codes, then the WnP app must to be set to "Use 6 Digit UPC/4 Digit Amount" under the 3 dot menu on the WnP app.

5. The SKU must be set to the Product Code + "-" +  the number of days that the product is good before expiring (only if you plan on printing variable barcodes).  For example, if you are working with LOBSTER and the LOBSTER Product Code is "12346" and LOBSTER expires in 5 days then set the SKU to "12346-5".

6. Make sure you SAVE your INVENTORY items.

7.. Use the WnP app to create any needed containers for the item (in case you wish to print variable barcodes in addition to scanning them).

11. The label that is scanned will have a 12 digit UPC of one of the following forms:

12. This barcode can be scanned using the WnP app: (a) Go to the WnP app and choose the "3 dot" menu in the top right hand corner and choose "Turn On Variable Barcode".  Choose "Use 6 Digit UPC/4 Digit Amount' if your barcodes are 6/4 format described above.  The default is to use "5/5 format as described above).  Press Done.  (You may have to restart the app one time in order for the change to take place).  You can now scan the variable barcode and the WnP app will break the scanned code into the UPC (and look it up in your inventory) and will use the price of the variable barcode and will add the item to your REGISTER upon checkout.

If you wish to NOT see the REGISTER app asking to "Create a new item" whenever you scan a variable barcode, just login to the REGISTER using an employee PIN for whom their permissions don't allowing adding inventory items before scanning your item.
